Early Life and Family Background

Hari Murali was born in Payyanur, Kerala, in 1999. His family was deeply connected to the arts, especially theatre. His father, KU Murali, popularly known as Payyanur Murali, was a theatre personality who inspired many through his performances. His mother, Prasanna, played a supportive role in nurturing the family. Hari also had a brother, Sreemurali, who shared the household’s artistic environment.

Growing up in such a family meant that Hari was exposed to creativity from the very beginning. Theatre rehearsals, discussions about art, and performances were part of his everyday life. This environment shaped his interest in acting and later in visual arts. Unlike many children who discover their talents in school, Hari’s journey started at home, guided by the influence of his father’s work.

Childhood and First Steps into Acting

Hari’s childhood was unique. At just four and a half years old, he was chosen by director A. M. Naseer to act in a television serial. While most children his age were busy playing with friends, Hari was already learning the craft of acting in front of cameras.

But this early start also came with challenges. Hari often spoke about feeling lonely during his childhood. He missed the simple joys of spending time with children his age. Acting gave him recognition, but it also created a gap in his personal life. He struggled with isolation, which later became a recurring theme in his life.

Breakthrough in Cinema: Rasikan (2004)

Hari Murali’s first big break came in 2004 when director Lal Jose cast him in the film Rasikan. He played the role of Unnikkuttan, a mischievous child whose natural dialogue delivery won hearts. The film starred Dileep, and Hari’s performance stood out despite being a supporting role.

This role gave him recognition across Kerala. For a boy who had already acted in serials, Rasikan was a turning point. It showed that he could hold his own on the big screen. Later, he appeared in the comedy flick Amar Akbar Anthony (2015), alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jayasurya, and Indrajith. These roles, though not lead parts, kept him connected to the industry.

Hari’s acting career reflected the challenges many child actors face. While he was remembered for his early roles, sustaining a career in cinema was not easy. As he grew older, opportunities became fewer. He shifted his focus towards other creative fields, but his contribution as a child actor remains part of Malayalam cinema’s memory.

Academic Journey and Skill Development

Hari did not limit himself to acting. He pursued higher education in Visual Effects and Animation, completing a B.Sc. degree. He later trained in graphic design in the UAE, which gave him exposure to international standards of digital artistry.

His academic journey showed his determination to stay connected to art, even if not through acting. By learning VFX and design, he prepared himself for a career behind the camera. This decision reflected maturity and foresight, as he understood the importance of diversifying his skills.

Career Shift: VFX Designer and Entrepreneur

In his mid-20s, Hari returned to Kerala and began working as a VFX designer. He contributed to the visual effects of Malayalam films, helping shape the technical side of storytelling. His work was appreciated by filmmakers who relied on VFX to enhance their movies.

Hari also founded Pigment Art Studio, where he explored painting, especially acrylic art. This showed his versatility—he was not only a digital artist but also someone who loved traditional forms of expression. His paintings reflected his inner emotions, and he often shared glimpses of his work online.

Personal Life and Interests

Hari Murali lived a simple life despite being part of the film industry. He followed Hindu traditions and was known to enjoy non-vegetarian food. His social media presence, especially on Instagram, gave glimpses of his personal interests. He often shared updates about his artwork, showing his love for painting.

Beyond cinema and VFX, Hari was passionate about acrylic painting. His works reflected his emotions and creativity. Friends and followers admired his ability to balance digital artistry with traditional forms of expression. Tragic Demise

On 12 March 2026, Hari was found dead at his home in Payyanur, Kerala. Reports confirmed that he died by suicide. His family rushed him to Payyanur Baby Memorial Hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Murali was only 27 years old.

The news shocked the Malayalam film industry and his fans. For many, it was hard to believe that a young man with so much talent and creativity had left the world so soon. His death brought attention to the struggles faced by artists, especially those who start their careers at a very young age.
